A few hours after the events of Assassin's Creed, in the year 2012, Desmond touches upon how he was held prisoner by the modern-day Knights Templar, Abstergo Industries, and was forced to relive the genetic memories of his ancestor, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, in the Animus to aid Abstergo in discovering the location of artifacts known collectively as the " Pieces of Eden". Other means of transport available in the game include horses, which can only be ridden outside of the major cities; gondolas, found most prominently in Venice; and a carriage, which is also ridden during a mission involving Leonardo. Two Assassin's Creed games were released concurrently with Assassin's Creed II: Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines and Assassin's Creed II: Discovery.

The two then escape after a brief scuffle with Abstergo security guards and arrive at a warehouse in which Lucy and two other modern day Assassins, Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane, have set up their own base of operations, complete with their own version of the Animus. Blending in with the crowd is easier, working with in-game characters provide ample rewards but can also lead to surprising consequences. After much complaining from Assassin's Creed II fans that they were unable to complete the game due to the need to complete the three Templar Lairs (only available on the "White" or "Black Edition") to earn 100% synchronization, Ubisoft released "The Complete Edition". DVD with all the videos, behind-the-scene interviews and "e-goodies" about Assassin's Creed II, and game soundtrack by Jesper Kyd (BAFTA nominee for "2009 Best Original Score in a Game").Ezio befriends Leonardo da Vinci, takes on Florence's most powerful families and ventures throughout the canals of Venice where he learns to become a master assassin. Locations in the game include the Tuscany region [2] ( Florence, Monteriggioni and San Gimignano), [5] the Apennine Mountains, the Romagna region ( Forlì), [5] Venice, and the Vatican (only available during the final mission of the game).

Each of the places the player can visit is more detailed compared to Assassin's Creed, and NPCs have a more human-like behavior; for example, civilians can sometimes be caught coughing or sneezing. The survivors joined forces with humanity, building a network of vaults to preserve their technology and prevent a future disaster. Not been on it for long yet but enjoying it all the same, Only thing that i have noticed with it that i think could improve it is the way the story is. When the notoriety icon is empty, Ezio is known as "incognito" and may travel through the city as he pleases. In Monteriggioni, the Auditore family's villa acts as Ezio's primary headquarters throughout the game, and a new economic system allows for the property to be upgraded and enhanced, creating income for Ezio at twenty minute intervals. The bottom line here is that Assassin’s Creed 2 is one of the best games of this year or any other, period.

It came with the original game, Sequence 12 and Sequence 13, an additional dye for Ezio's robes, a throwing knife pouch upgrade, and 3 bonus missions set in the Palazzo Medici, Santa Maria dei Frari, and the Arsenal Shipyard. These three dungeons— Palazzo Medici, Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari and Arsenale di Venezia—similar to the base game's Assassin Tombs but without special rewards other than treasure, were originally included in the "Black Edition" (European and Australian release) of Assassin's Creed II, with one included in the "White Edition" and two in the North American "Master Assassin's Edition". Inside the Animus, he finds glyphs similar to the drawings he found in his cell at Abstergo, which, when deciphered, reveal a video file of two human slaves stealing an Apple.
