About this deal

Firstly it tells whether you’re placing a worker or girder, and if so, which colours to choose from. I love the way they break down barriers between geeks like me, and people who would never normally play a board game. The card that is still face down on the top of the deck will tell you what you have to add to the site – a girder or a worker – and what colors you may use.

This means there are two potential ways to win the game increasing fun, risk levels and replay-ability. Instead, let’s talk about why Rita Modl’s Men at Work is one of the world’s perfectest stacking games ever.As long as your piece and the structure stay upright and nothing hits the table, you’re golden and you’re turn is over . Played it lots as 2 player and even tried a 3 player game with our 4 year old daughter which wasn't entirely unsuccessful. Regardless, you’re always surging toward the sky while being tugged earthward by both gravity and prudence.

This is a really lovely dexterity game with beautiful wooden components, a great box with preformed insert, and lots of replayability. If you’re not sure what constitutes a dexterity game, I think of them as any game where the physical movement of pieces constitutes the game, not necessarily what happens when they get there.Sometimes the surest-fingered player is tasked with the impossible, just as those with palsy might be told to plop a girder in any old place. At some point in the first half of the game the Site Manager will appear in the draw pile and from that point on, everyone needs to be aiming to place the highest part of the construction to win themselves an Employee of the Month rosette.

For a dangerous building site, a player may win if they are the only one who has not been eliminated. As your construction gets taller and taller, it becomes more and more dangerous, and you’ll end up with workers wedged between girders where they’ve fallen but not made it to the ground, girders precariously balanced and swinging around under the weight of a badly placed exhalation. But we’re not here to talk about the Australian National Anthem, we’re here for Men at Work the board game, a 2-4 player hands-on building construction game from Pretzel Games. If they cause an accident during clean up, they will also give up a safety certificate and miss their go.Thankfully, even though clean-up is the same, if a worker, beam or brick falls into the insert you do not have to remove them. On the other hand, some of the most rewarding moments in Men at Work emerge from the creation of the construction site. If any pieces fall to the table during cleanup, that player loses a safety certificate and passes the hook to the next player.
