My current grip aid routine is to apply the tite grip antiperspirant an hour before class and dry hands everytime I need it (manyyyyy times during class).

GripShield can even be used inside gloves and bar loop gloves, and may help prevent odor buildup as well! While back in the good old days strippers only had hairspray and shaving cream to rely on, these days we are overwhelmed with choice for pole grips – especially hand grips! Each bag is study enough to keep the air out, so there’s no need for extra storage like other towels. I use this product for pole dance classes - my hands are really clammy and therefore I tend to slip a lot, and as I get more advanced, I need to know my grip is solid.

It was only until I started reading The Pole PT content that I discovered there is more to your pole grip than rubbing on some chalk or some other form of liquid. It is good to know which type of hand grip product you are dealing with, as you don’t want to zap all the moisture out of your already dry hands. If you find that patting in a little bit of watered-down glycerin a few hours before pole class helps, your skin is probably dry. Not just during the hotter months, but also during the colder months to aid you in moving on the pole and getting stronger with your moves and the amount of things you can do with the pole. Unlike many rosin based grips, you don’t have to put Sticky Molly’s liquid rosin on your hands – which in my experience makes them sweat more, actually making your grip worse.

There are products to put on your hands (and body) to assist with reducing sweat for our Sweaty Betty’s out there, or even to help those with dry skin (Dry Dora) by adding some tackiness. Simply rub into your hands and your hands instantly become moisture resistant and therefore creating the perfect non-slip grip. a figure 8 descender to save your silk from getting damaged, extend its life and allow an easier and safer installation. The only thing I have found is that you have to apply them quite a bit of time before you want to use it as it needs time to dry before it is effective. The grip is specially designed to work in weather conditions that may affect sports performance such as hot or humid weather and rain. Tapping helps to create a dirty grippy surface, whereas rubbing your hands creates a slippery smooth effect which isn’t helpful for pole.A little goes a long way with this grip, as it’s long-lasting and resistant to sweat thanks to the beeswax. The lotion absorbs quickly as you rub it in, wicking away moisture and drying on your skin with little to no residue. Cheaper than most pole grips and easier to find, I was introduced to shaving cream as a grip aid in Australia, although I haven’t seen it used much here in the UK. The Light formula is best for dancers in humid climates or who have skin that is not too dry but needs a little boost every now and then. It has been used in performance based sports for many years and has stood the test of time as being one of the best sports grip brands on the market.
