Nevertheless, this didn't detract too much from my enjoyment of the book, since those are very common character traits - it just didn't add to them either. The issue I had was more that we get one (ONE) kiss between Fitz and Elle and it's immediately followed by her being convinced that he's a murder. This is fantasy book that has some romantic elements and those elements are really only there to further the plot.

The trouble was this was all supposed to be the book's climax, and I was just getting antsy and impatient. This book definitely lived up to the expectations that I created after watching all of Rachel's marketing reels (if you do not follow her on Instagram, please do). I don’t believe for a second that anyone aged 18 who lives in a world like she does would be so obnoxious…isn’t that what the littlest sister is for? This was a great standalone with a swoon worthy prince- but I look forward to learning more about the world and the other fae realms in Schade’s future books! This would be a great book to read in the fall because it has all of the spooky vibes with the haunted forest and castle, but of course any time is a good time for spooky-ness!

Ich bin momentan in einer Fantasy/Romantasy Phase und dieses Buch war sehr heartfelt und ein easy read. She is convinced that her plan will work, but what she wasn't counting with was falling for her husband. It just felt like the h was rejecting the H over and over again and it didn’t hit anywhere like Elizabeth rejecting Darcy felt. The characters, the mystery, the slow burn tension, and world building are immersive and spell bounding.

So obviously I picked this up because it was a clean romance, and I don't need too many personal (albeit fictional) details in my life.

The pacing in this book is great with a good balance between action and character-driven scenes as well, which is hard to pull off, honestly. Castle of Dusk and Shadows is not my normal fae fantasy read where all the "dark and dangerous" fae are actually. She does add original characters that function in the plot, they are necessary, so Schade does know that she can manipulate the original story and make it her own, I just wish she’d done it more. Currently she lives in Ohio with her husband and fur babies, and surrounds herself with books and coffee on a regular basis.

A lot of the story follows the source material, making the pacing a little predictable—especially in the beginning.Told in first person, Elle navigates the treacherous world of Fae and ghosts, replete with dangerous political intrigue. Obwohl mir gegen Ende des Buches bei den Thematiken Trauer und der Akzeptanz des Todes ein wenig die Tränen kamen, war das Buch im allgemeinen sehr einnehmend und herzerwärmend. I loved seeing them get to know one another in a different light than their prejudices prevented them from seeing in the beginning. I actually enjoyed this so much, and I'm devastated we don't get more of Fitz and Elle 😭 I just want to see what the rest of their life is like, ugh.

The h barely even thinks about the H, she’s so consumed with her mission of finding her father and then the whole thing with Cordelia. From that moment on, Elle finds herself thrust into the Kingdom's dark secrets, including an unsolved murder among the closest of the Ashwood family. The things Fitz would say to Elle would have me melting in a puddle, I understand her hesitation, but if a man said half the things to me that he did to her, I would forever be swooning. After her father dies suddenly, Elle’s family is forced to make good on their arranged marriage with the Prince and heir to the throne. This FMC is a truly distasteful person, in both her behavior and character, and combined with the single-sided POV, the writing was hard to stay focused on. Please try again later as the restrictions may be lifted, or contact your service provider if the issue persists. as a regular clean fiction reviewer, the book was amazing, but I do have to say this next part because I know that we are not all the same and I wouldn't like of you feel lied to while reading the book.
