Description

This early script began immediately after Inferno, with a witch who survived the destruction of Mater Tenebrarum's home watching a detective ( Ennio Fantastichini) investigating a series of murders at a university. At the priest's home, Sarah meets Marta, a fellow white witch and friend of Sarah's deceased mother. Asia Argento stars as Sarah Mandy, an American studying art restoration at the Museum of Ancient Art in Rome.

Again, it isn’t that scary, but all of this stuff lends the film a certain theatrical, over-the-top edginess and melodrama. Sarah is given a copy of "The Three Mothers" to read, and from this (and from following a group of witches) Sarah finds Mater Lachrymarum's lair; a now run-down and disrepaired mansion. According to Father Johannes ( Udo Kier) in the third film, the battle left Suspiriorum "a shell of her former self".Workers excavating outside of a cemetery in Viterbo, a town near Rome, unearth an urn chained to the coffin of a medieval knight. Guts and gore are Dario's forte and, amongst many instances of horrific death, you have a FULL Vlad-style impaling with an uncomfortably long spear of my favourite actress in the film, plus a strangulation by intestines, and the throwing of a baby off a bridge. This is a must own for any fan of Italian horror and proves that Argento can stay cool and up with the times, while creating something brilliant! Asia Argento just cannot act convincingly at all, there's little care taken into making this as stylish and unique as Suspiria or Inferno.

Informed Attribute: Sarah had no idea that her mother was a witch, or that she herself had any dormant powers. In July it was revealed that The Third Mother had been delayed yet again until "next November or later" and that Argento's daughter, Asia, had been cast in the film. This is not a dire disappointment, as "The Wicker Tree" is to "The Wicker Man", but is just a different approach, with a lesser budget, from poor Dario who has deviated from what the fans expect.Set in Rome this time, violent goings on start happening in the city as well as strange, unexplainable things that seem to be connected to the occult and something that may involve scientist Asia Argento. Unfortunately, Sarah soon realizes that Michael is dead and that Mater Lachrymarum is animating his body in an attempt to kill her. Honestly, the gore is just about all Argento gets right, almost as a reconciliation for the rest of his limitations. com opined that " Mother of Tears is depraved, bloody and unrepentantly exploitive, and the plot makes virtually no sense—it's the sort of movie nobody, save Argento himself, is crazy enough to make these days.
