The trend is still very much towards big blockbusters not arriving in 3D this year, with IMAX the clearly-preferred (although not mutually exclusive) premium format. The Reef People of Pandora – In true James Cameron-style, the Metkayina reef clan has been developed with great attention to detail, bearing unique evolutionary traits and a culture—with new dwellings, new clothes and different way of life—all a result of living off the ocean. Hopefully a sign of things to come, Disney/20th Century delivers Avatar: The Way of Water to Blu-ray 3-D.

The real allure here is probably not the story per se but the overwhelming qualities of the actual presentation. Part of that is down to there being too many similar-looking characters, to the point where you often find yourself thinking, ‘Is that x or y? Boasting state-of-the-art special effects, the film is the first in a series of four planned sequels, though whether any of them will achieve the same level of record-breaking box office success as the original remains to be seen. The Undersea World of Pandora – Co-production designer Dylan Cole and his team conceive of the marine creatures required for Avatar: The Way of Water while James Cameron and his stunt team devise extraordinary means to bring those creatures to life in a performance capture tank. One, in particular, involves Lo’ak bonding with a similarly outcast whale-like creature (shades of Free Willy), and an underwater swim that’s shot from an angle that makes it look like he is flying just above the air, reaching out to “touch” it, the way you would reach down to touch the water if you were on the surface. Or they could just use a version of the current frame packed format with 1080p per eye which when played back on a 4k TV wouldn't need to be downscaled to HD. Becoming Na’vi – The Avatar cast is immersed in the culture of the indigenous Na’vi, living off the land in the Hawaiian rainforest and training in a multitude of disciplines in preparation for their roles.

It got to the point where, when I toddled along to my local Odeon to watch the latest Avatar, the staff weren’t entirely set up for the 3D part of the showing. A four-disc Blu-ray + Digital set, the 3-D version of the film is spread over two BD-50 discs, a BD-50 disc for the 2-D presentation, and a BD-50 for bonus features. The majority of the original cast are back, some in surprising new roles, and the technical aspects of the production are all first class – making the film worth the 13-year wait.Admittedly I am a 3-D junky, but if I’m earnestly going to sit down and watch Avatar: The Way of Water - I’m going to pull out this 3-D disc. PAS non plus de Dolby Atmos sur les versions Blu-ray, mais ici quand même donc de l’audio en français (seulement en qualité DD 5. I do think that the new “Avatar” film will rekindle an interest in natively authored 3-D, which is what I personally believe is the right way to do it. Many people treat 24fps as some kind of canonical film format when it is actually a technical and cost based compromise exploiting our perceptual limitations. its let down to some extent by the story which is essentially one where the fate of the world rests on the actions of a group of teenagers - ok, but not one which matches the amazing visuals.

As James Cameron said before, “studios blew it”, meaning they did not approach 3D the right way… and so contributed to kill it at its infancy. Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. It's a shame there's no commentary or deleted scenes, but after ploughing through over three hours of material, you'll feel like you've spent the last 13 years working on the movie. He and his team were always going to put in a shift on the technical side, and duly did Not since arguably Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity has a live action movie used 3D well, and justified the format.Black levels and shadows are well managed, maybe not as pristine as what 2160p HDR10 can offer, but it certainly holds its own. com is an Introducer Appointed Representative of Pay4Later Limited, trading as Deko, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 728646). Being able to choose the screen, from a small home theater to the hugest IMAX-style screen you may want makes the experience unique.
