In the following 3D printer comparison, we’ll look at what each of these 3D printers is the best fit for you.

The low price, popularity, dedication to open source, and number of online guides and documentation are great, but it’s the broader range of functionality and features on offer that really appeals to me. Neither the Ender 3 V2 nor the Ender 3 Pro has a filament sensor. Such a sensor detects whether there is still filament in it or not. If the filament is used up or breaks during printing, the sensor detects this and pauses the print. It also bundles in slicer-like tools, like automatic orientation and support generation, to ease sending your part through a slicing program. TinkerCAD

Buying an Ender 3 enclosure is essential if you’re 3D printing ABS, Nylon, and any other high-temp filaments prone to warping. Don’t miss: How To Connect Ender 3 To Pc: Step By Step Guide Ender 3 Vs Ender 3 Pro: The Ultimate Comparison Guide Creality Ender 3 I have used both 3D printers for a long time and cannot see any differences in print quality. The only difference is that the Ender 3 V2 generally produces slightly fewer printing errors than the Ender 3 Pro. However, this may also be due to my copy. They are only small differences. PrusaSlicer comes preloaded with well-tuned profiles for the Ender 3 and Pro along with the V2 and S1, something Cura doesn’t do. If you have the Ender 3 Pro, or an original Ender 3, then replacing the original aluminum print bed with a tempered glass bed prevents print bed issues, and also gives you a smoother finish on the bottom of your prints.

It’s elegant in its simplicity, and despite its child-friendly appeal, can create all manner of parts ready for 3D printing. First, sand the print down with 120/200 grit coarse sandpaper. You can move up to 300 grit once the surface becomes smoother. The Ender 3 is a kit printer, which means it comes with some assembly required. The instructions and documentation for assembling the printer can be pretty complex It comes with an official stamp of approval for Creality and is tuned perfectly for the Ender 3, removing the need to dive into the code to mold it to suit your printer. The interface is more or less identical, though. The only noticeable difference is an ever-present Creality logo tagged onto the UI’s top left and a jazzed-up color scheme. PrusaSlicer The breadth of settings isn’t quite on par with Cura as a consequence, but Creality’s focus is on simplicity to not overwhelm first-timers, so the logic for this is sound. Creality Sonic Pad: With this pad, you can operate both 3D printers with Klipper. This is a different firmware that allows higher print speeds with additionally better print qualities. The Ender 3 V2 and Ender 3 Pro are both extremely popular 3D printers from Creality. They have also been around for some time and have a huge community. This, combined with the fact that neither 3D printer is perfect, creates a wide range of upgrade possibilities.

If you’re just choosing between the Ender 3 V2 and the Ender 3 Pro, I recommend the Ender 3 V2 with a matching PEI print bed*. This gives you a very capable 3D printer with perfect print bed adhesion. This makes it more of a filament management system than a true dual extruder system, but the results are very much the same. You can do multi-color prints, and multi-material prints, and it can even mix filaments together for some unique results.

How to Add an Ender 3 to Cura

Filament Sensor: With this upgrade from Creality, you can add a filament sensor to both 3D printers. It detects whether the filament is used up or broken. If so, it pauses the print so you can reload new filament. A retooled and customized version of Cura, Creality Slicer is, to no one’s surprise, Creality’s in-house developed slicer. As for Ender 3 V2 and Ender 3 S1, which both ship with a bootloader, upgrading the firmware is done via microSD card; easy and straightforward. Official Creality Firmware The only downside is the high price tag, which is honestly not good value. To put it in perspective, the 20W xTool D1 Pro is less than this, yet offers 5W more power as a standalone machine. The only advantage over this is you save space in a cramped workshop by having your laser capabilities within one machine. The board is sized to fit snugly into the Ender 3, making it a fairly painless drop-in replacement that even beginners won’t find too daunting.

Once the surface is sufficiently smooth, wash the model, apply a coat of primer, then sand it down with 400 grit sandpaper. If you want a smoother surface, you can keep on using lower grit sandpaper. CR Touch for auto leveling and strain sensor for auto Z offset. Easy to get a perfect first layer. Capable "Sprite" Direct Extruder The manual print bed leveling does not differ between the Ender 3 V2 and the Ender 3 Pro. Only its support through the menu is somewhat more pleasant on the Ender 3 V2, as the menu is nicer and more helpfully designed. You can assemble the individual pieces using superglue, epoxy, or some kind of heat friction method by heating both sides and holding the model together. The magnetic bed is not everyone’s first choice of preference because bed leveling can be challenging at times. When 3D printing, your model might have multiple parts, or maybe your print bed might not be big enough for your projects. You might have to split the model into multiple sections and assemble it after printing.
