Jane Harper has once again produced an ingenious, moving and hugely satisfying mystery. This is crime writing perfection' -- C. M. Ewan, author of The Interview Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Publishers for sending me an ARC of Exiles in exchange for an honest review.

Harper's third murder mystery is set in south-west Queensland on a large cattle station. The police find nothing in Cameron Bright's death from dehydration to suggest foul play, and the investigation is carried out informally by the dead man's elder brother Nathan. [11] The Survivors [ edit ] The possibility of Falk finding love is a tender counterpoint to the murder mystery in this worthy conclusion to one of the most outstanding of recent crime series * Daily Express *

Early praise for Exiles

This is a slow burn story. Harper takes her time unwinding the story. Aaron isn’t formally investigating the disappearance, just asking questions on his own. Other friends and family have all been doing their own investigations over the past year. There had also been a hit and run five years before the disappearance which has also left lots of questions. The story delves into what we do for the people we love.

As ever, Falk is introspective. With the dynamics of the cases and his romantic life combined with the constant push and pull of memories, including those of his relationship with his father, Harper highlights Falk's vulnerable side. Exiles is a quiet mystery that centers on two unsolved crimes in a small town in Southern Australia. Jane Harper is a British-Australian bestselling author of The Dry, Force of Nature, The Lost Man, The Survivors, and Exiles. Her books have won many awards, including the Gold Dagger Award for Best Crime Novel, Crime and Thriller Book of the Year by the British Book Awards, and the Australian Indie Awards Book of the Year. MY THOUGHTS: Marralee is a small town in the heart of the South Australian wine country. A small, pretty town, where everyone knows everyone else and nothing bad ever happens. Only something bad has happened. And no one saw.A year on, Kim Gillespie’s absence casts a long shadow as her friends and loved ones gather deep in the heart of South Australian wine country to welcome a new addition to the family.
