Once you have the glaze mixed, use a small brush to put just a little bit of the paint on the tip. Since the paint is so wet with thinner, if there’s too much paint on the brush it will run and we wont have the kind of control we want. Use your nail, the base of the model, or the pallet to test it a bit to make sure you have good control over the paint coming off the brush. Brass Scorpion– Brass Scorpion is a metallic paint that has a bronze finish. This can be used to paint the armor, weapons and other metallic elements of the Imperial Guard Miniatures, adding a sense of luxury and richness. The bronze color will complement the flesh color and provide a balance between the two hues.

Highlight the edges of the armor and the symbol on the cape with Sycorax Bronze, followed by a dot of Stormhost SilverAt this point I could start painting by hand, generally working from the inside out. These are the recipes I used for the various different areas. Unless otherwise noted, my washes cover the entire basecoat area, and highlights are all edges. Brass Armor The first is light that is bounced off of the skin retaining the color of the source light. In typical conditions (outside, under a blue sky) this is a slightly cool (tinged with blue) white color. Typically, when you’re taking flesh tone and mixing in white to highlight, this is what you’re approximating. On the surfaces where light is shining directly, you get more white showing through. Space Marines – The Space Marines are a faction of the Warhammer 40k universe that are genetically modified superhuman soldiers. The Cadian Fleshtone paint can be used to paint the flesh of these soldiers, as well as to create a variety of different skin tones, making it a versatile paint that can be used to paint a variety of different factions. Mix your Cadian with a dab of Ushbati Bone (about 3:1) and highlight the raised areas (those that would catch the light). Then add a little more Ushbati and do it again, but on slightly smaller areas that are more prominent. Keep doing this until you’re at 1:1 Cadian: Ushbati.

You may have noticed the third model in the group shot is actually from the Warhammer Underworlds warband. That model was my test for the scheme to make sure my idea worked before committing to the new models. Jain Zar by Gav Thorpe also features the Drukhari in significant fashion and gives them some real show-stealing scenes. In our How to Paint Everything series, we take a look at different armies of the Warhammer universes, examine their history and heraldry, and look at several different methods for painting them. This week we’re looking at the Sisters of Silence. Who Are the Sisters of Silence? It’s much the same process for infantry, however with the red mostly done in a bulk airbrushing session there really isn’t much left to do once you’ve pin washed and edge highlighted I decided to paint my Fellgor Ravagers Beastmen with a variety of skin tones, but tie the Kill Team together with the colour of the equipment.
