Ella's family has a BIG secret - her mummy is a fairy! But sometimes Mummy Fairy's magic goes wrong, and then it's up to Ella to help. Fairy Mom and Me is the first book in a new children's series by one of my favorite authors, Sophie Kinsella.

Mummy Fairy - Penguin Books UK

Hello. I'm called Ella Brook and I live in a town called Cherrywood. I have blue eyes and dark brown hair. My best friends at school are Tom and Lenka. My worst enemy is Zoe. And then there is my mummy. She looks normal, like any other mummy . . . but she's not. Because she can turn into a fairy. She just has to shut her eyes tight, say 'Marshmallow' . . . and POOF! She's Mummy Fairy. I felt it ended a bit abruptly, but knowing there is another book coming helps. The chapters were a bit long and didn't really connect to each other, so it seemed more like a series of short stories. Sophie was born in London. She studied music at New College, Oxford, but after a year switched to Politics, Philosophy and Economics. She now lives in London, UK, with her husband and family.Min dotter Lily (6 år) och jag läste den här boken tillsammans som godnattsaga. Varm och komisk. Den bjöd på en del skratt. Perfekt bok om man gillar magi och den berör även vardagsämnen som vänner, grannar och skolidrott.

Fairy Mom and Me is the first book in Sophie Kinsella’s first ever children’s series, with a focus on family, magic, and fun! Overall, I think that this is a wonderfully cute book for young girls. It is fairly long, but does have some pictures. It is the perfect book to read with a child. In 2014 she published a Young Adult novel Finding Audrey about a teenage girl with social anxiety and her madcap family, and in January 2018, Sophie published her first illustrated book for young readers about the charming adventures of a mother-daughter fairy duo, Mummy Fairy and Me (also published as Fairy Mom and Me). My niece is 8 years old and the book was perfect for her because we would take turns reading the book.

The narrator is Ella. Her mom looks like a regular mom most of the time. But she can turn into a fairy. Ella has a bratty next door neighbor Zoe. Neither me nor my niece liked Zoe at all. She was very mean. But Mummy took no notice. ‘Here we are,’ she said. ‘I knew I’d find something! A spell to make you feel cooler. That’s exactly what I need.’ She got out of bed, stamped her feet three times, clapped her hands, wiggled her bottom and said, ‘Marshmallow’ . . . and POOF! she was a fairy. Read this extract from Mummy Fairy and Me: Fairy-in-Waiting, the second book in the series that features more exciting escapades including magic spells, some extremely cheeky monkeys and the best birthday party ever! I think that’s a bad idea,’ said Daddy, looking alarmed. But Mummy Fairy pointed the Computawand at herself and pressed a code – bleep-bleep-bloop.

Ella's family has a BIG secret - her mummy is a fairy! But sometimes Mummy Fairy's magic goes wrong, and then it's up to Ella to help. In this book of enchanting adventures, Mummy Fairy and Ella decorate the kitchen with magic colouring pencils, catch a robber on Ella's school trip - and swim with real mermaids! In this brand-new book of magical adventures, there are very naughty monkeys, a swimming pool filled with ice cream, and the best birthday party ever - complete with giant cakes and fairy dust. I read this story with my daughter. She really enjoyed it and didn't want me to stop. It was also easy for her to read out loud to me. We're already excited about the next book in this new series. Sophie Kinsella truly understands a child's voice and what would interest young readers. The illustrations were really cute and my daughter laughed out loud from them.Mummy Fairy put on a woolly hat and flipped through the book. ‘Let me try something else,’ she said. ‘Here we are – a spell for strength. Strongeridoo!’ My mummy looks normal, like any other mummy . . . but she's not. Because she can turn into a fairy. She just has to shut her eyes tight, say 'Marshmallow' . . . and POOF! She's Mummy Fairy. Both Ella and her Fairy mother learn a lot from their madcap adventures and I hope my readers will absorb these lessons too. But most of all I hope that anyone who reads these stories will smile, laugh, enjoy… and let a little magical sparkle into their life!

In this book of enchanting adventures, Mummy Fairy and Ella decorate the kitchen with magic colouring pencils, catch a robber on Ella's school trip - and swim with real mermaids! Night Mayor Franklefink has vanished from the Transylvanian Express - and it's up to you to solve the case! Part of the Solve Your Own Mystery seri... The world of Ella and her magical mother is, in many ways, real. Ella goes to school and plays with her friends. Her mother is like any other… except when she turns into a fairy! My own children adored the fact that her phone turns into a magical Computawand. I could see them eyeing up my phone. Might I too secretly be a fairy?

My niece really loved this book. She hated when we had to stop reading to go out. And she begged me to start again when we got home. Also we didn't have time to finish it the first day. When she came over the next day she immediately wanted to read it. She was sad when it ended and was happy to see that there would be a book two in the series. Sophie’s latest novel, Surprise Me, published in February 2018, presents a humorous yet moving portrait of a marriage—its intricacies, comforts, and complications. Surprise Me reveals that hidden layers in a close relationship are often yet to be discovered. I will try everything Sophie Kinsella writes at least once... I've not always been super enthusiastic (some of the most recent Shopaholic books were painful) but I've had awesome surprises ( Finding Audrey is perfection) so when I've heard she had written a middle grade book about fairies of all things, I was very excited! She can do amazing spells with her computawand to make delicious cupcakes, create the perfect birthday party and cause chaos at the supermarket.
