She covered up for Jeff and pretended he was harmless and innocent, but finally asked him to move out. This is the kind of twist which really gets ones moral examination gears spinning, and indeed spinning futilely in circles quite often. The sections where the father says that Jeffrey was like him in certain ways I think it was a reach.

She left him her car and he promptly picked up hitchhiker Steve Hicks and murdered him and cut him up. It was partly because of the morbid curiosity about a nightmare that feels so very far away and yet so vivid: the unstoppable process of utter damnation of your child. It was absolutely a sad read, and left me feeling for everyone involved in Dahmer’s murders, but I’m glad I’ve read it.Dahmer and his wife Shari received support from Theresa Smith, sister of victim Eddie Smith, who is mentioned in the acknowledgments. They filed a wrongful death suit against Dahmer, his wife Shari Dahmer, and his former wife Joyce Flint, citing parental negligence as the cause for the claim. Coming to terms with the horrors of his son's killings, the father of mass-murderer Jeffrey Dahmer reveals the dark and twisted life that preceded his son's slaughter of several victims.

we are the space of our isolation, we are the space defined within our limits, the limits change, the isolation remains.Jeff intrigues me, because, the love that Lionel felt towards his son was highly relatable to me, do not take this the wrong way, I am NOT a murderer. The book does give some insight into what may have caused Jeffrey Dahmer to become the killer the world know him as. He remembers instances of Jeffrey's odd behavior, such as his fascination with roadkill, but admits that he did not find it alarming at the time. So, I have to wonder if this abandonment comes from his youth where his mother was always depressed and unable to be there with him and the father was constantly leaving him to go off to work. As we later discovered, that included selling his own blood plasma at a local blood bank, a practice he had engaged in so often that the blood center had finally marked his name, preventing him from making visits too frequently.
