Prepare your item. Ensure that it is clean and the surface is dry. Rub ‘n Buff can be applied to painted surfaces, metal, wood, ceramics and more

Rub n buff can be used on really any surface! You don’t need to prime first, you can just apply directly to any surface you’d like. The options are endless. Let your creativity flow with this super affordable and exceptionally easy product to use! Of the five golds, my favorites are Rub n Buff Antique Gold and European Gold, but that’s just my preference. Each one is beautiful in their own right.European Gold– The least saturated, cooler-toned of all of the Rub ‘n Buff golds, this shade is more of a champagne hue and is best if you want just a slightly gold tinted color. A creamy light blue. Patina is the color that real copper turns when exposed to the elements and agent over time

Instead, I gave them a coat of Rub-n-Buff, which totally transformed them (in my eyes, at least, though I know going from shiny gold to muted gold isn’t exactly the most impressive DIY makeover!). You can see in the before photo on the left, that the gold is very shiny and yellow, and then on the right it’s darker and less shiny, which feels a lot less dated to me. I used Rub-N-Buff gold leaf for these sconces. As I mentioned, one of the reason I really like using Rub-n-Buff is that it’s so easy to apply: First you rub, then you buff. Yes! Rub ‘n Buff is a metallic wax that repels water. Because it is a wax, some people use it on their faucets and handles in bathrooms. For very detailed pieces, I like to apply it with a small paint brush. I used a small brush to apply Rub n Buff European Gold to these old door hinges. Testing Rub n Buff Colors Rub onto clean, dry, or previously painted surfaces or on post-fired ceramics with a finger or soft cloth, then gently buff to a beautiful luster. Normally, I would use my finger but for sample purposes, I did use gloves as to not mix any of the colors. Rub it on and then buff it out, a little goes a long way! If you need another coat be sure to let the first coat dry completely first. Objects

There aren’t as many silver colors as there are gold ones, and the two silver colors are both beautiful! Y’all this stuff is so easy. I’ve been wanting to add some gold accents around our new rustic beach cottage, but I didn’t want to spend any money.

There are endless designs that can be added to a simple vase like this and give it personality. I have another bud vase that I plan on adding vertical stripes! 4 | Highlight Furniture Details Source | Salvaged Inspirations

I’m planning my daughters vintage chic bedroom makeover, and a part of the makeover will include aged gold accents or vintage gold tones. These tiny tubes of metallic wax really do work like magic that can change the look of a picture frame in minutes! 2 | Antique Lamp Base My favorite way to use Rub-n-Buff is on lighting. This is probably because when we moved into our home, all of our light fixtures were that 1980s shiny yellow brass color. I love brass, but not 80s brass. At the same time, though, the style of the light fixtures (particularly the sconces) was very classic, so I couldn’t see spending a ton of money to change them out. And of course, you’ll need the object you’ll be transforming along with a paper plate, paper towel or any clean surface to blend the Rub ‘n Buff.

Yes, Rub-n-Buff is permanent, so make sure you’re certain about your decision before you start applying! Like all paints and finishes, it can still be scratched or chipped, so take care with your finished surfaces.I personally have found that depending on the metallic color I choose to use, I have had to apply multiple layers of the wax paste to achieve my desired color. Make sure to prep the surface before hand by cleaning and drying it off completely. Use a soft cloth to apply the rubbing compound in a circular motion. I wanted to add a small dish to the nightstand of our guest bedroom and decided to use items found in our home to whip something up. Salvaged Inspirations used antique gold rub ‘n buff to highlight the intricate details on an antique dresser. The luster is subtle but makes these small details pop. 5 | Gilded Seashell Jewelry Dish Rub n’ Buff is not recommended for outdoor use as it is not waterproof and may deteriorate when exposed to moisture. Can I Use Rub n’ Buff on Metal for an Antique Gold Finish?
